The Nebraska men’s basketball program has created a new position.

On Monday, Nebraska head basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced the hire of Shannan Lum as the recruiting coordinator for the Huskers. This will be the first time the program has had this position, and Lum is the second woman in the power conferences to hold a role in the field.

Lum comes to Nebraska after spending the last two seasons working with the Cal women’s basketball program. There, she was the director of video. She was also an intern with the Stanford women’s basketball program and a manager for St. John’s men’s basketball.

“Shannan brings experience working for both the Pac-12 and Big East programs, and she provides our staff another valuable perspective. Her background in coaching and operations will enhance our basketball staff in game preparation as well,” Hoiberg said in a statement. “When we evaluated our entire program following the season, we wanted to enhance player development as well as look for opportunities to take advantage of the changing recruiting landscape. The addition of Shannan to our staff is another step in the process as we look for ways to elevate our program.”

Nebraska will be entering the third season under Hoiberg in 2021-22.
