A former Hawkeye quarterback is making a return to Iowa City.
On Tuesday, the University of Iowa’s athletic department announced that former quarterback Jason Manson has joined the staff as the director of player development. Head coach Kirk Ferentz confirmed the hire.
“I am very happy to bring Jason Manson back to our program in this capacity,” Ferentz said in a release. “Jason was a valued team member and leader during his Iowa career. His perspective and experience since graduation will be a great benefit to our players in his new role.”

Per the release from Iowa, Manson will be responsible for guiding student-athletes as they transition from high school to college. He will also support their academic and athletic success.
Manson lettered at Iowa in 2005 and 2006 and played both the quarterback and wide receiver positions. He completed 42-of-85 passes for 442 yards and a touchdown and also had 93 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards.
Manson has been a high school head football coach and a position coach at Central Connecticut State University.
