Tom Izzo might’ve peeled back the curtain on Michigan State’s upcoming basketball schedule for the 2021-22 season, which includes a pair of big-time matchups.

On the Audrey Dahlgren Show on Tuesday, Izzo said that Michigan State may be hosting Duke at the Breslin Center this season and might play Villanova in a potential Gavitt Games matchup. There has been no confirmation on those scheduling notes.

Michigan State has become notorious for scheduling difficult opponents during the nonconference portion of the basketball schedule. The Spartans have traditionally played highly-ranked opponents early in the season in an attempt to prepare for the B1G season and NCAA Tournament.

The Spartans are coming off a 15-13 campaign in 2020-21, squeaking into a play-in game in the NCAA Tournament. They dropped their first game of the postseason to UCLA, which went on to reach the Final Four.

Izzo will be entering his 27th season in East Lansing this year.
