Ohio State quarterback commit Quinn Ewers has reportedly been very impressive at Steve Clarkson’s QB Retreat this week.

The camp, which includes elite high school and college quarterbacks, is led by Clarkson, who is a longtime quarterback coach.

247Sports’ Tom Loy was at the event and had high praise for Ewers’ performance. He also compared him to a current SEC standout:

“In a not-so-shocking twist, Southlake (Texas) Carroll five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers is really good. I know, crazy, right? The nation’s No. 1 quarterback was a lot of fun to watch for my first time seeing him in action up close. The arm talent is there. He can throw the ball from a variety of angles and you could tell he was having fun working on that yesterday. The arm strength was second to none. That dude can bring the heat. Quick comparison for the class of 2022 quarterback just when watching him do his thing yesterday would be Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral.”

Ewers is from Southlake, Texas, and attends Southlake Carroll High School. He’s currently listed at 6-foot-3, 206 pounds. Earlier this week, he explained why he chose Ohio State over staying closer to home in Texas.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Ewers is a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2022.

Players in the class of 2022 are eligible to sign with schools during the Early Signing Period in December.
