Iowa crossed into rival territory to land a pledge from an offensive lineman.

The Hawkeyes received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-7, 265-pound offensive lineman Jack Dotzler out of Waunakee, Wisconsin. A member of the 2022 recruiting class, Dotzler picked Iowa over offers from more than a dozen programs.

“I was born to be a Hawkeye,” Dotzler wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “I am 100% COMMITTED  to the University of Iowa! Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.”

Dotzler received offers from multiple B1G programs, picking Iowa over Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State and Purdue. Other Power 5 programs to offer included Arizona State, Iowa State and Vanderbilt, as well as multiple FCS programs.

Per 247Sports rankings, Dotzler is a 3-star offensive lineman who ranks as the No. 63 tackle in the class and is considered one of the Top 10 prospects out of Wisconsin. He does not have any composite rankings at this time.

In addition to football, Dotzler also plays basketball at the high school level.

Dotzler joins an Iowa recruiting class that is still relatively small despite posting a 16-5 record over the past two seasons. The Hawkeyes have just three verbal commitments right now, ranking No. 11 in the B1G.
