The pressure is only intensifying in Ann Arbor. After a 2-4 season in 2020, Jim Harbaugh knew he needed to make some staff changes in an effort to re-establish Michigan as one of the powers in the B1G.

At the end of the 2020 season, Harbaugh made some difficult decisions, parting ways with multiple staff members, including defensive coordinator Don Brown. With no victories over Ohio State, no B1G Championship Game appearances and the program’s first losing season since 2014, there’s a lot of eyes on the Wolverines this season.

“I was lucky. I was just born with (energy),” Harbaugh said, according to MLive. “I just always have it. Having the guys — how much it means to them, what we want to do, but also just an attitude of gratitude. And hungry. I feel like when I’m looking at them, I’m looking in the mirror.

“I’m really proud to be working with the guys I’m working with. The energy of the staff; the energy is at an all-time high,” he continued. “We’ve gotten bigger — and, I believe, stronger too.”

Harbaugh’s contract was altered in the offseason, prompting many to believe that the Michigan head coach is under a microscope for the next year or two. The clock is ticking on his opportunity to beat Ohio State and at least appear in the conference title game.

Will 2021 be there? A lot of improvement would need to be made in a very short period of time. Then again, Harbaugh seems really pleased with the changes to his staff.
