Ohio State and Penn State are battling for one of the top linebackers in the 2023 recruiting class.

Josiah Trotter, a Philadelphia native, revealed his Top 4 on Monday night, including both the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions in the mix. He’s also considering South Carolina and Clemson.

“First off I would like to thank God, I would not be here without him,” Trotter wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank all the coaches who have offered me to be able to play at the next level. I will be focusing on these 4 schools for the remainder of my process.”

Trotter, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker in the 2023 class, is ranked as the No. 11 player at his position, according to 247Sports. He’s also the No. 5 player out of Pennsylvania and is the No. 120 overall prospect of the cycle.

In 2020, Trotter helped lead St. Joseph’s Prep to a perfect 6-0 record and a 6A state title. He’s narrowed his list down to four schools after receiving a dozen offers. Other schools to show interest include Marshall, Maryland, Notre Dame, Oregon, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Trotter is the son of Jeremiah Trotter, a third-round selection in the 1998 NFL Draft out of Stephen F. Austin. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and is in the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.
