The inevitable has finally happened: a bowl game has now been named after a living human being.

Over the years, the name and sponsors of various bowl games have continued to evolve and adapt. That has produced epic combinations like the Cheez-It Bowl and the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.

Now, the inaugural Los Angeles Bowl has been renamed after a comedian and late-night talk show host.

The bowl, which was originally planned to debut in 2020 but was canceled due to COVID-19, announced the renaming Wednesday night. It will officially be known as the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl when it debuts in 2021.

The game is scheduled to debut on Dec. 18 of this year and will feature a matchup between the top Mountain West tie-in and the No. 5 selection of Pac-12 teams. It will be played in SoFi Stadium, the home of the LA Rams and LA Chargers.
