Sunday was a busy day for Minnesota on the recruiting trail. The Golden Gophers added five verbal commitments on Father’s Day and saw a big boost in the national rankings because of it.

Minnesota received commitments from wide receivers Aidan Gousby, and Cade Conzemius, defensive end Jack Pyburn and cornerbacks Rhyland Kelly and Tariq Watson. Conzemius is the only current player who doesn’t have a 3-star rating according to 247Sports, as he currently does not have any rankings.

The flurry of pledges on Sunday brought Minnesota’s 2022 class up to 13 commitments. The Gophers also saw a bump in the rankings, jumping up to No. 27 nationally and No. 7 in the B1G. They had previously been at No. 38 in the country with the class.

June and July are big recruiting months in college football, particularly this year. The NCAA removed the recruiting dead period on June 1, allowing student-athletes to take official and unofficial visits to campuses. Coaches are also allowed to take part in live evaluations.

Minnesota’s newest commits recently took visits to the campus.

There’s still a long way between now and the Early Signing Period in December. Still, the Golden Gophers have put in a lot of work this month, landing eight verbal commits in June.

The latest 247Sports Composite Rankings are reflective of that right now.
