Report: Iowa, Utah State to play neutral site basketball game during 2021-22 season

Another piece of Iowa’s 2021-22 basketball schedule has reportedly been figured out.

College Hoops Today’s Jon Rothstein reported on Monday that Iowa will play Utah State at a neutral site during the nonconference portion of the upcoming season. The contest with be played in in Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The date is expected to be on Dec. 18.

No official announcement has been made, and Rothstein reports there is no timetable on when it will become official.

Iowa played Gonzaga at the Sanford Pentagon last season, falling 99-88. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 1 and the Hawkeyes were No. 3 at the time of the contest.

Last season, Iowa finished with a 22-9 record and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Hawkeyes reached the Round of 32. Utah State was 20-9 and lost in the first round of March Madness.
