Another piece to the 2021-22 college basketball scheduling puzzle is in place.
Thursday morning, Jon Rothstein of College Hoops Today reported that the matchups are set for the 2021 Gavitt Games, which features the B1G and Big East. Eight games have been set, per the report.
Here’s the list of matchups for this season:
Ohio State @ Xavier
St. John’s @ Indiana
Seton Hall @ Michigan
Providence @ Wisconsin
Michigan State @ Butler
Illinois @ Marquette
Rutgers @ DePaul
Creighton @ Nebraska
Dates and tipoff times were not included in the report from Rothstein.
The Gavitt Games began in 2015 and are scheduled to run through 2022 under the current contract. Last year’s event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and limited nonconference games.
The B1G is currently on a two-year winning streak, defeating the Big East 5-3 in 2018 and 2019. The two leagues tied in the first three years, with both conferences winning four games from 2015-17. The Big East has never won.
