There might be a few more fireworks for Indiana to celebrate on Independence Day this year.
This week, 4-star athlete and member of the 2022 class, Jacolby Spells, announced on Twitter that he’ll be announcing his commitment decision on Sunday, July 4. He has Indiana in his Top 3, along with West Virginia and Miami (FL).
Spells is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He’s ranked as the No. 243 overall player in the 2022 class and is a Top 30 player out of his home state, per 247Sports. He narrowed down his list to three programs after receiving 26 offers.

Spells has visited all three schools this month. Indiana was the most recent, with the Florida native arriving in Bloomington on June 18.
During the 2020 season at American Heritage, Spells transitioned to cornerback and collected 32 tackles and had an interception for a team that claimed a 5A state title in Florida. In 2019, he totaled 261 yards and 4 touchdowns on 25 receptions while primarily playing offense.
Indiana’s recruiting class currently has seven members and ranks No. 9 in the B1G and No. 35 nationally.
