Name, image and likeness legislation is soon coming to Ohio.

Monday morning, Tyler Buchanan of the Ohio Capital Journal reported that Gov. Mike DeWine is expected to sign an executive order that will allow college student-athletes in the state to profit off their name, image and likeness. The news comes as the state government has heard arguments for the benefits of name, image and likeness.

Other states have already approved legislation and will take effect as early as July 1, 2021. The NCAA continues to drag its feet on the matter, though changes could be coming in the near future.

Because the NCAA has been so reluctant to alter its amateurism model, states have taken action on their own. It has forced the organization to reconsider its policies to allow all states and schools to be on a level playing field.

The executive order is expected to be signed at 2:30 p.m. ET on Monday.
