There will be a new name attached to Minnesota’s football stadium before the start of the 2021 season, according to a report.
Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press reported on Monday that the University of Minnesota Board of Regents are likely to approve a branding change from TCF Bank Stadium to Huntington Bank Stadium. The new name will come just in time for the 2021 season, per the report.
Minnesota opens the 2021 season at home against Ohio State on Thursday, Sept. 2.
TCF Bank Stadium has been the name of the facility since it was constructed in 2009. The change comes as Huntington Bank officially acquired the TCF Financial Corporation.
Per the Pioneer Press, Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle will lead the presentation on the proposed name change.
