The son of a former Purdue football star will be heading to West Lafayette, as well. However, he’ll be playing a different sport.

Small forward Myles Colvin gave his verbal pledge to the Boilermakers on Wednesday via Twitter. He is the son of former Purdue defensive star and NFL lineman Roosevelt Colvin.

Colvin is a member of the 2023 recruiting class.

Colvin is listed at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds according to Rivals.com. He attends Heritage Christian High School in Indianapolis. In addition to Purdue, he received an offer from Indiana recently.

Colvin’s pledge is the first the Boilermakers have received with the 2023 recruiting class. The Boilermakers currently own the nation’s seventh-best class of 2022 with three verbal commits already. It ranks No. 2 in the B1G.

Roosevelt Colvin was a standout defensive end at Purdue in the late 1990s, playing under Joe Tiller. He was an All-B1G selection in 1997 and 1998 and he was selected in the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.

Roosevelt Colvin went on to enjoy a 10-year NFL career, winning two Super Bowl rings.
