Ryan Day not opposed to expanding College Football Playoff

Some are in favor of it, others are not. When it comes to College Football Playoff expansion talk, there’s still a divide on whether it should stay at four or increase the number of participants.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has led his team to the Playoff in both of his seasons in Columbus and reached the national championship following the 2020 campaign. And even though the Buckeyes are in the same conversation as Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma right now, Day says that a little more room for error might be welcomed.
At B1G Media Days on Friday, Day told reporters “I like having a little more wiggle room.” He also said that an expanded field might help him with his sleep at night.

There has been a lot of momentum for the expansion of the College Football Playoff. A move toward a 12-team field has been the popular topic of conversation, but nothing is etched in stone.
In the fall, the College Football Playoff committee will continue to explore all options for expanding the field — or potentially staying at four. While coaches like Mack Brown and Dabo Swinney have stated their opposition to a bigger bracket, Day seems to be in favor of it.
