With Oklahoma and Texas likely headed to the SEC, the remaining eight Big 12 teams are currently in scramble mode.

That includes the Kansas Jayhawks, who reportedly had a call set up with the Big Ten late last week. However, according to 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello, that is untrue.

Per Marcello’s report, no such call has taken place so far.

The Jayhawks are AAU members, which could help their case academically if talks with the Big Ten ever do get serious.

But struggles on the football field could make current Big Ten members question whether or not it would be worth it to add Kansas to the mix.

Still, the Big Ten currently sits at 14 teams. With the SEC moving to 16 and the Pac-12 and ACC exploring options as well, it’s possible the Big Ten jumps into the expansion fray at some point soon.

Iowa State and Oklahoma State have also been rumored to be potential options for the Big Ten if they choose to pursue expansion.

Oklahoma and Texas are expected to officially notify the Big 12 of their intentions to leave the conference on Monday.
