One commitment for Maryland’s class of 2022 did not last long at all.

The player is Kobe Prentice, a wide receiver out of Calera, Alabama. Prentice originally committed to the Terrapins on June 30, but that decision lasted about two weeks.

Alabama offered the in-state product on July 1, leading Prentice to reevaluate his options. He eventually decommitted from Maryland and reopened his recruitment.

The decision, though understandable, is still a tough blow for the Terrapins and the 2022 recruiting class. According to the industry-generated Composite Rankings, Prentice is a three-star recruit for the cycle.
