Texas and Oklahoma are officially headed to the SEC.

On Thursday, the 14 presidents at the conference’s current institutions voted on the decision to admit Texas and Oklahoma into the league. It was a unanimous decision, meaning the Longhorns and Sooners will soon be exiting the Big 12 and entering the SEC.

“Today’s unanimous vote is both a testament to the SEC’s longstanding spirit of unity and mutual cooperation, as well as recognition of the outstanding legacies of academic and athletic excellence established by the Universities of Oklahoma and Texas,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “I greatly appreciate the collective efforts of our Presidents and Chancellors in considering and acting upon each school’s membership interest.”

Movement on the matter was quick.

Last week, it was reported that Texas and Oklahoma were interested in leaving the Big 12 and joining the SEC. Earlier this week, the two schools sent a letter to the Big 12 stating their desire to depart from the league. They then submitted a formal request to join the SEC.

By the end of the week, the two schools have received their answer.
