Dominating the drafts: Michigan did something in the four major sports no other school has done in two decades

Michigan has made history in a really impressive way. It involves the drafts for all the four major sports in the United States.

According to Greg Harvey of 5th Quarter Stats, Michigan produced a first- or second-round selection in each of the major sports leagues — NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. That hasn’t been accomplished by any school since Notre Dame in 2002.

Pretty impressive.

Not a bad year to be a Wolverine. That’s a pretty impressive accomplishment, especially in a year that had so many twists and turns like the 2020-21 athletic year because of the pandemic.

Round 1: Kwity Paye, Indianapolis Colts (No. 21 overall)

NBA

Round 1: Franz Wagner, Orlando Magic (No. 8 overall)

Round 2: Isaiah Livers, Detroit Pistons (No. 42 overall)

NHL

Round 1: Owen Power, Buffalo Sabres (No. 1 overall)

Round 1: Matt Beniers, Seattle Kraken (No. 2 overall)

Round 1: Kent Johnson, Columbus Blue Jackets (No. 5 overall)

MLB

Round 2: Steve Hajjar, Minnesota Twins (No. 61 overall)
