Report: 5-star QB Quinn Ewers will skip senior year of high school, enroll early at Ohio State

5-star quarterback Quinn Ewers will reportedly skip his senior season of high school and enroll early at Ohio State.

That’s per Justin Wells of Inside Texas, who covers high school recruits in the Lone Star State. Ewers attends Southlake Carrol High School near Dallas.

This was first reported as a possibility by Yahoo!’s Pete Thamel back in July. Ewers told Thamel he was “leaning toward” enrolling early in Columbus so he can begin making money through Name, Image and Likeness legislation.

Texas laws would have prevented him from doing so while still in high school.

Thamel’s report said Ewers has already received numerous endorsement deal offers, including from national brands.

Ewers is will likely redshirt this season, but he will be eligible to practice with the Buckeyes during fall camp and play for them this fall.

This will add to Ohio State’s already-stacked quarterback room. The Buckeyes already have CJ Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord on the roster — all former blue-chip recruits. McCord, a fellow 5-star, and Ewers are now effectively in the same recruiting class.

Ewers is one of the top quarterback prospects in the country, regardless of class. Prior to this move, he was ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2022, Per 247Sports Composite rankings,

Ohio State’s fall camp begins on Aug. 4. The Buckeyes open their 2021 season on Sept. 2 against Minnesota.
