Ohio State will pay $1.8 million to Bowling Green for a 2027 home game, according to a report.

That’s per records obtained by ElevenWarriors.com, which also indicate updated language in the contract’s “force majeure’ clause.

The Buckeyes were supposed to play Bowling Green at Ohio Stadium in 2020, but the game was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19. Ohio State would have paid out just $1.1 million for that game.

Last week, Ohio State announced the game would be rescheduled for 2027.

The bump to $1.8 million is in line with what Ohio State is set to pay other Group of 5 programs for home games in the coming years. According to the report, OSU will also pay that figure to Akron, Arkansas State and Toledo over the next two seasons.

Ohio State and Bowling Green have played five times previously, with the Buckeyes winning all five matchups. The closest matchup came in 2007 — a 24-17 victory for Ohio State. Every other game in this series has been decided by double digits.

Their next matchup will take place on Sept. 4, 2027.
