Ohio State already had an unprecedented fall quarterback situation with a three-man race for the starting job. Then, the entire Buckeye quarterback situation turned to the one and only Quinn Ewers.
Ewers, a 5-star recruit, reclassified from the Class of 2022 to 2021. He remains the top recruit in the country. But now, he will be a freshman with Ohio State. It appears he’s the first player to reclassify due in-part to the changed NIL rules.
As of now, Ewers has yet to be a part of the Buckeyes’ fall camp. But he should be arriving soon.
If you’re not familiar with Ewers story, it’s quite unique. He was the apple of college football’s eye as the Texas native and committed to the Buckeyes. Then, he recently joined Ohio State a year earlier.
For the current Ohio State trio of quarterbacks, there was already some significant pressure coming based on the quarterback competition. Now, they have to take on questions about Ewers.
C.J. Stroud on Quinn Ewers: “I’m happy for him, man. He’s a good kid, and I’m happy that he’ll be able to make some money … We’ll accept him in the room with open arms, just like we did Kyle (McCord). At the end of the day, it’s all a brotherhood.“

So far, it seems like the quarterback competition is in good faith. It appears to be a united front, at least, based on what they’ve told the media.
Ohio State opens its 2021 season at Minnesota on Sept. 2.
