Despite Nebraska having a down year last season, wide receiver Zavier Betts seems to think that’s about to change. Betts had his first interview of the season during fall practice on Wednesday and appears pretty confident.

The receiver position has struggled with consistency under Frost, but Betts believes that’s going to change.

“We’re definitely going to surprise a ton of people,” Betts said, per Mitch Sherman of The Athletic.

Betts himself played in six games during his freshman season and totaled 12 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown. His best game came on Nov. 14 when he had two receptions for 54 yards and the lone touchdown.

He also knows that he struggled a bit during spring practice and is taking it personally so that he grows more as a player:

Betts is one of multiple receivers the Huskers expect big things from this fall. Eyes are also on Oliver Martin, Omar Manning and FCS transfer Samori Toure this fall, as well.

The Cornhuskers will open their 2021 campaign on August 28th with a trip to Illinois. They’ll try to avenge last year’s loss when Illinois went into Lincoln and beat them 41-28, thanks to being up 28-10 at halftime.

Kickoff will be at 1:00 EST and the game will be televised by FOX.
