With fall camps underway across college football, that means there’s always going to be weekly updates surrounding different programs.
Today, that came from Ohio State where head coach Ryan Day just finished up his media availability. He touched on a wide variety of topics, including if he liked the new rule of not having lower pads on right now. It’s safe to say that he’s not a fan.

He also was asked about the quarterback situation going into this season but he wasn’t about to tip his hand.
Day said a front-runner at QB hasn't emerged yet. At Big Ten media days, he said he hoped someone might emerge after week 2 of camp. Said this week will be big but might be another week before that happens.

Here’s the rest of what Day said on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Day said he has seen “a tremendous attention to detail” from J.T. Tuimoloau. “He's made up a lot of ground in a very short amount of time.” Said he still has moments where he's not sure what to do, but has “flashes of brilliance.”
“We're having a hard time blocking him.”

Tomorrow is the first day players will be allowed to wear full pads at practice. Ryan Day said he thinks they should be able to wear lower-body pads in all practices, because some Ohio State players' lower bodies have gotten banged up even though they haven't been tackling yet.

Ryan Day on freshman cornerback Denzel Burke, who had his black stripe removed Saturday: “He goes right up against Chris (Olave) and he goes right up against Garrett (Wilson), and he doesn't back down. He has a lot of confidence. But not over the top, either.”

#Buckeyes CB Sevyn Banks has missed the past couple Ohio State practices after "tweaking something," Ryan Day says.
