Glimpse into the future? Ohio State experimenting with new first-team offensive line

It looks as if there will be some experimenting going on in Columbus this fall, at least on the Ohio State offensive line — at least according to some recent footage released in tweets from Buckeyes camp.

A tweet from Dan Hope shows an offensive line of Nicholas Petit-Frere at left tackle, Thayer Munford at left guard, Harry Miller at center, Paris Johnson at right guard and Dawand Jones at right tackle, all taking live reps.

The Ohio State offensive line took a bit of a hit yesterday when third-year lineman Ryan Jacoby entered the transfer portal. The loss of Jacoby results in a loss of some of the depth that coach Ryan Day had hoped to have on the line. Jacoby had been relegated to a backup role last season for the repeat Big Ten champions and national runners up.

A fifth-year senior, Munford and fourth-year junior Petit-Frere are both back at the tackle positions after both being on the starting line last year. Jones is expected to add depth and see playing time at tackle as well, and. Miller is now entering his third year and could see time at left guard, where he started last season. He could also move back to center, where he was the backup as a true freshman. Johnson appears to be ready to take the right tackle spot, while Matthew Jones will also compete for either guard or center spot.
