Michigan State and Purdue will be two of 16 teams in next season’s PK85 event, according to a report.

That’s per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, who says that there is no timetable for an official announcement.

Duke, North Carolina, Florida, Villanova, UConn, West Virginia and Oregon are amongst the programs also slated to compete.

The PK85 will mark the 85th anniversary of Nike founder Phil Knight. A similar event — the PK80 — was held in 2017 to celebrate his 80th birthday.

The PK85 will feature two eight-team tournaments in Portland. Michigan State and Duke were co-champions in 2018.

The Spartans and Boilermakers could be two of the best teams in college basketball in 2022. That’s especially true of the Boilermakers, who could be a Final Four team in 2021.

Michigan State and Purdue are likely to be placed in opposite brackets at this event.

The PK85 will be held in Portland in November of 2022.
