Indiana running back Sampson James is electing to enter the transfer, according to Rivals. This decision comes as Indiana is in the middle of fall camp and the regular season is less than a month away.
This is the second time James entered the transfer portal, having also previously done so in March 2020 before deciding to stay with Indiana.
James has logged 371 yards and three touchdowns in 19 games for Indiana. James arrived at Indiana as a 4-star prospect according to Rivals. James was initially committed to Ohio State before flipping to Indiana.
James was receiving praise for his leadership during camp.
“Sampson is a leader in our room and he knows what’s going on…” Indiana running backs coach Deland McCullough said to Rivals. “He’s like another coach out there at the times when he’s not practicing. He’s very involved and very vocal. I think he sees a light bulb going off and some things that we are doing and some concepts and different teaching approaches that we’ve taken to our room.”
Indiana kicks off the season on Sept. 4 with a road contest at Iowa.
