Michigan State is looking forward to the 2021 fall campaign as they have almost a week of fall camp under their belt.
Mel Tucker is not worried about seniority when it comes to who plays this fall for the Spartans. Younger players have been competing with the veterans all the same.
Mel Tucker on veterans competing with younger players: “We don’t care who plays. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.”
— Matt Charboneau (@mattcharboneau) August 11, 2021
Tucker does not believe in seniority. If you show it on the field in his eyes, you are old enough to play on game day, no matter if you are a freshman or a senior.
Tucker is in his second season with the Spartans. In Tucker’s first season, the Spartans went 2-5 in the B1G. Michigan State ended up finishing dead last in the B1G East.
Michigan State did manage to pull off upset wins against in-state rival Michigan and eventual 2020 B1G West division Champion Northwestern.
The Spartans will need all the help they can get from young players and veterans alike this season as they have road games against Northwestern, Miami (FL), Indiana and Ohio State.
The Spartans open the season on the road Friday, Sept. 3, at Northwestern in Evanston, IL.
