There is no age limit on being a great coach in college football. In this industry, though, it’s uncommon to see so many risers under the age of 30.

Several current assistant coaches and staffers from across college football are changing that narrative. This week, 247Sports released its “30Under30” series, listing the top 30 staff members/assistants who are 30-years-old or younger.

Two from the B1G made the cut: Ohio State quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis and Penn State tight ends coach Ty Howle.

Dennis is in his third season with the Buckeyes, spending his first two years as a senior quality control analyst. He’s been on staff for the entirety of Ryan Day’s tenure as the head coach at Ohio State.

On Dennis, 247Sports writes:

Dennis has done nothing but help produce and recruit stellar QBs while at Ohio State. As an offensive analyst in 2018, Dennis worked closely with Heisman finalist Dwayne Haskins. The last two years as QB coach, Dennis tutored All-American Justin Fields. Additionally, Dennis has helped the Buckeyes to major recruiting wins. Dennis led Ohio State’s recruitment of five-star QB Kyle McCord and most recently played a big part in the Buckeyes beating out Texas for Lone Star State product Quinn Ewers.

Howle has only been in the position at Penn State for a few months, promoted by James Franklin after serving as an analyst in 2020. Before arriving in Happy Valley, he spent four seasons at Western Illinois.

247Sports says about Howle:

Out goes one 30Under30 member at Penn State (Tyler Bowen took a job with the Jaguars) and in comes another in Penn State’s tight end room. Howle spent the 2020 season at Penn State as an analyst, working closely with Bowen and the tight end group, which was among the best in the country. Howle is recruiting well early, too. He helped PSU land 2022 four-star tight end Jerry Cross, and the former Penn State captain has created some recruiting buzz in his home state of North Carolina. Howle began his coaching career as a GA at NC State and worked at Western Illinois (he finished his tenure as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator) prior to arriving at Penn State.
