Where every B1G team sits on the preseason SP+ rankings

We are quickly approaching the 2021 college football season with a little over two weeks to go before the first B1G contest of the year!
As teams continue to prepare and get ready for the upcoming campaign, the various preseason polls and rankings have been filtering their way out. That included the preseason coaches’ poll dropping earlier in the week.
Another interesting ranking system to keep an eye on throughout the year is the SP+ system devised by Bill Connelly with ESPN. According to Connelly, his SP+ system takes into account three major pieces for the preseason rankings: returning production, recent recruiting, and recent history.
For his 2021 preseason rankings, 6 B1G teams cracked the top 25. That was headlined by top-10 rankings for Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State.
Here is where every B1G team ranks heading into 2021:
- 4. Ohio State
- 6. Wisconsin
- 10. Penn State
- 16. Iowa
- 17. Michigan
- 24. Minnesota
- 28. Indiana
- 32. Nebraska
- 38. Maryland
- 51. Michigan State
- 52. Purdue
- 76. Northwestern
- 81. Illinois
- 83. Rutgers
What do you think? Which teams did the SP+ get right, and which ones do you think need a big adjustment?
