Purdue just landed a key player via the transfer portal, and he comes from the in-state rival of the Boilermakers.
On Friday, running back Sampson James announced on Twitter that he was transferring to Purdue. He began his career as a member of Indiana’s 2019 recruiting class, playing two seasons for the Hoosiers.
“Boiler Nation, excited to become a part of something special in West Lafayette,” wrote James on Twitter. “Let’s work, Boiler Up!”

James was a 4-star recruit and the 10th running back nationally for the class of 2019 out of Avon, Indiana. He rushed for 371 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first 2 seasons with the Hoosiers.
Now, James is off to West Lafayette and will remain in state to continue his collegiate career. Hopefully, James is able to provide a boost and a bigger impact during his tenure with the Boilermakers.
Purdue and Indiana will face off Nov. 27 this season in West Lafayette.
