Indiana was victorious in the first of two exhibition games against Serbian basketball team BC Mega on Friday night.
The Hoosiers won 79-66. The two teams will play again on Sunday in the Bahamas.
Unsurprisingly, it was Trayce Jackson-Davis who led the way for Mike Woodson’s team. He scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. He also added 9 rebounds and 2 steals.
Miller Kopp and 5-star freshman Tamar Bates were the other Hoosiers in double figures. Both scored 14 points, with Bates’ contribution coming off the bench. Kopp made 3-of-4 attempts from long range.
As a team, Indiana shot the ball very well from beyond the arc. They made 38.9 percent of their attempts from 3-point range and shot 42.9 percent from the field.
BC Mega actually had a better shooting night from the floor (51 percent) but they attempted 25 fewer shots than Indiana. That was due to a staggering 27 turnovers from BC Mega, which the Hoosiers converted into 34 points. Indiana also picked up 17 offensive rebounds and 18 second-chance points.
These teams will face each other again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
