Pouring in a team-high 21 points, former Penn State small forward Lamar Stevens threw down a two-handed slam dunk for the Cleveland Cavaliers in Saturday’s Summer League action against the New York Knicks.

Despite Stevens’ efforts, the Knicks prevailed victorious, 103-94, with Quentin Grimes leading the way with 28 points and Miles McBride adding 23.

A 4-star prospect out of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania in the 2016 recruiting class, Stevens committed to the in-state program on Sept. 18, 2015, and appeared in 135 games during his four years as a Nittany Lion, starting every one of them.

Earning B1G All-Freshman honors in 2017 and two first-team All-B1G selections in 2019 and 2020, he is Penn State’s second all-time leading scorer with 2,207 points, just six behind Talor Battle’s school-record.

Entering their first season under Micah Shrewsberry, the Nittany Lions are searching for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011 and are scheduled to begin their 2021-22 campaign against St. Francis Brooklyn in the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Florida on Nov. 18.
