Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst said on Monday that the Badgers’ defense has been better than their offense so far in fall camp.
However, that may not be a huge surprise as Wisconsin should boast one of the country’s best defenses in 2021.
“I think we’ve got a really good defense,” Chryst told reporters.
#Badgers coach Paul Chryst asked about defense always appearing to be ahead of the offense at this point in camp. He acknowledged that was the case this year but said: "I think we've got a really good defense."

Metrics like ESPN’s SP+ agree with Chryst. SP+ projects Wisconsin to have the No. 2 defense in the entire country this season. Iowa is the only team projected to be better than the Badgers on that end.
It also makes sense because multiple Badgers are currently battling injuries during fall camp. The list includes multiple offensive linemen and running back Jalen Berger.
Wisconsin will have to get right offensively sooner rather than later, as the Badgers are set to face Penn State in Week 1. Kickoff from Madison is at 12 p.m. ET on Sept. 4.
