Marquez Beason, who suffered an injury in summer camp and will likely be out for a few weeks, tweeted a positive update from his Twitter account today.

Beason was injured all of the 2019 season with a season-ending  injury.

This past spring Beason transitioned from the DB to WR position. He played in 6 games for the Illini last season, making 2 starts, and had 7 tackles in those 6 games.

Still, it is not ideal news for the Illini who have to replace star WR Josh Imatorbhebe.

After transferring from USC, Imatorbhebe had 55 catches for 931 yards with an average of 16.9 yards per catch and 12 touchdowns in two seasons with the Illini.

Illinois enters the season with a new head coach but a familiar face to the B1G as Bret Bielema is in year 1 in Champaign. Bielema was the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers from 2006-2012. Bielema was 68-24 with the Badgers and 37-19 in B1G play with 3 B1G titles.

The Illini are just 11 days away from facing off against B1G West foe Nebraska. The Illini got the better of the Huskers last season in Lincoln, winning the game in a rout 41-23.

The Illini square off with the Huskers next Saturday in a Week 0 showdown to kick off the college football season.
