Illinois basketball lost a 3-star guard commitment on Tuesday night.
3-star guard Reggie Bass announced his decision to back away from his verbal to the Illini. Here’s his announcement:
With that being said i will be reopening my recruitment to all schools ……
Thanks Illinois but my recruitment is now open— Reg (@BassReggie23) August 18, 2021
Bass is the No. 29 overall shooting guard and the No. 188-ranked player in the country for the class of 2022, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He had been committed to the Illini since March.
He attends Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Bass also holds offers from programs like Florida, Kansas State and Texas Tech, amongst others.
This decision brings Illinois back to just two commitments in the class of 2022. However, both current recruits are 4-star prospects so the Illini still has the No. 7-ranked class nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
