Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck met with the media on Monday afternoon, just 10 days before his Gophers host Ohio State in their season-opener.
Fleck covered a lot of ground, including Minnesota’s incoming freshman class. He said it’s a talented group and said the coaching staff gave them a lot of snaps in Minnesota’s most recent scrimmage.
“Our freshman class is very talented,” Fleck said. “We let them play a ton of snaps (in a recent scrimmage). There were a lot of guys that really did well.”

Another young player who has been good during fall camp is backup quarterback Cole Kramer, Fleck said.
“Cole Kramer I think has had a solid camp,” Fleck said. “I think he’s growing every single day. He’s making some mistakes and showing the next day that he doesn’t make the same mistake twice. You can see the growth and development from him.”

Fleck also gave an important update on starting WR Chris Autman-Bell, who suffered a leg injury in practice earlier this month. Fleck said he’s been upgraded from “week-to-week” to “day-to-day.”
Looking ahead to the Ohio State game, Fleck was complimentary of the Buckeyes’ receiver room.
