Being named a team captain is a special moment for any player on any team. It’s equally as exciting for that individual’s family.

Last week, Ohio State announced its team captains for the 2021 season. Defensive end Zach Harrison was one of those chosen by his teammates to represent the Buckeyes for the year.

Defensive line coach Larry Johnson couldn’t let the opportunity slip by to pick up the phone and call Harrison’s family after the announcement. Ohio State’s camera crew was able to capture that moment, which was pretty special:

That’s an awesome moment between Harrison and his family. It’s one he won’t forget anytime soon.

Harrison is expected to be a key piece of Ohio State’s defensive line this season. Last year, he was responsible for 14 tackles, 4.5 for loss and 2 sacks during the Buckeyes’ 7-1 season. In 2019, he totaled 24 tackles with 3.5 sacks.

Ohio State’s defense will be tested early in the season, playing Minnesota in Week 1 and Oregon the following Saturday.
