With fall camp about to close for programs across the country, there’s bound to be lots of updates on injured players and that was no different during Paul Chryst’s media session on Tuesday.
Chryst provided an update on receiver Danny Davis III and kicker Jack Van Dyke and both were promising. He expects both players to be ready for the Badgers season-opener against Penn State.
#Badgers closed camp Tuesday and Paul Chryst said he expects Danny Davis and Jack Van Dyke to be back for opener. Many players performed well this month but we focused on five who appeared to position themselves for playing time. https://t.co/kzF0UBZG2v

Davis will be a 5th year senior with the Badgers and came back to the school this season after missing most of the 2020 season. He suffered a head injury during the game against Michigan (a 49-11 win) and didn’t play in the last 5 games. For the season, Davis finished with 3 receptions for 78 yards with a touchdown.
Davis also had 2 consecutive seasons of 400 yards receiving or more, and those came during 2017 and 2018. In both years, he finished with 418 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns.
As for Van Dyke, he comes into the 2021 season as the starting kicker, even though he hardly has any collegiate experience. He attempted only 1 kick last season and missed it, though he’ll have numerous chances to make up for that.
Wisconsin’s opener against Penn State will be on Sept. 4 at Noon ET.
