Ohio State is putting the finishing touches on fall camp as the Buckeyes prepare for next week’s opener against Minnesota.

Arguably the biggest and most important story of fall camp has been the quarterback battle for Ryan Day’s squad. Redshirt freshmen C.J. Stroud and Jack Miller entered camp in a three-way battle with true freshman Kyle McCord. That group expanded to four players when star prospect Quinn Ewers reclassified and joined Ohio State.

In the end, Day and the Buckeyes will be rolling with Stroud against the Gophers next Thursday night. On Wednesday, wide receivers coach Brian Hartline and a handful of receivers discussed what they have liked so far about Stroud as QB1.

Star wideout Garrett Wilson has already compared Stroud to Super Bowl champ Russell Wilson. When pressed on that comparison, Wilson said that Stroud always gives his receivers a chance with his ball placement.

Hartline went on to say that Stroud has made the WR room better when he is on the field. Dan Hope with Eleven Warriors shared those comments:

Those endorsements are solid enough, but Julian Fleming also had positive things to say about Stroud. Fleming praised the leadership abilities of Stroud while also commenting that he always gives his receivers a chance to make a play.

Griffin Strom with Eleven Warriors shared video of Fleming’s comments:
