Ohio State awards “Block O” jersey to senior team captain

Ohio State has awarded their famous Block O jersey to senior team captain just days before kickoff against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Thayer Munford was awarded the Block O jersey, a tradition at Ohio State to grant the jersey to the senior team captain.

Munford is a 6-foot-6 320-pound senior OL for the Buckeyes. According to the team’s website, he has started 33 consecutive games for the Buckeyes over the past three years.

He primarily plays LT for the Buckeyes and was First Team All-B1G in the 2020 season.

The Buckeyes last season won the B1G with a record of 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the B1G. They  beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl, but  fell to Alabama in the national championship.

The Buckeyes go on the road to start the season against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday, Sept.2, Before their home opener against the No.11 Oregon Ducks.
