Moving from quarterback to wide receiver isn’t easy but Isaiah Williams made it look that way in his debut for Illinois on Saturday.
He finished the game with 6 catches for 41 yards and a touchdown reception to go with it. His 6 catches led Illinois and tied Nebraska’s Oliver Martin for the game-high mark. Williams’ 41 yards were second-most among Illini receivers. Luke Ford was next in line with catches as he had 3 for Illinois.
Before the season even started, Williams was setting big goals for himself after the switch was officially announced. He’s looking to start every game and make the All-B1G team, plus so much more.
Williams has always been a good runner and showed that last season when he rushed for 389 yards and had a rushing touchdown. He did have a couple of rushes today, but they only went for a combined 8 yards.
Williams will have a chance to secure his first 100-yard receiving game when Illinois welcomes UTSA for their home-opener on Sept. 4.
