The 2021 NFL preseason came to a conclusion on Saturday night for the Chicago Bears. The team traveled to Tennessee to play its third tune-up game before the regular season kicks off in a few weeks.

First-round draft pick and former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields got the start for the Bears in Saturday’s preseason finale. Once again, the rookie shined bright in the game.

Fields completed 7-of-10 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown pass in Chicago’s 27-24 victory over Tennessee. He also had 13 yards on two carries in the win.

Fields had a strong preseason for the Bears. Appearing in all 3 games, he completed 30-of-49 passes for 276 yards with 2 touchdown passes. He also piled up 92 yards on the ground and scored a rushing touchdown, as well.

Chicago head coach Matt Nagy has been insistent that Andy Dalton will be the Week 1 starter against the Los Angeles Rams. Even after the preseason, that attitude hasn’t changed.

But if Dalton doesn’t perform well, you’d have to think Fields will get his shot at some point in the year.
