It’s no secret that Ohio State is returning the best wide receiver duo in college football this season. The combination of Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson makes the Buckeye offensive incredibly difficult to defend.

Those aren’t the only two guys in the room, though. Ohio State still has players like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Julian Fleming, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka at the position looking to make an impact.

One player that has stood out most to Wilson during his time at Ohio State is Smith-Njigba. Meeting with reporters earlier this week, Wilson had the highest praise for his teammate.

“Jaxon is as good as I’ve ever seen, probably the best I’ve ever seen,” Wilson said, per Eleven Warriors. “Jaxon is the most natural athlete I’ve ever seen.”

Considering the names mentioned above are all in the same room, that’s pretty impressive.

Smith-Njigba is entering his second season in Columbus. As a freshman in 2020, he caught 10 passes for 49 yards and a touchdown and also fielded 3 punts for 11 yards. Smith-Njigba didn’t get a ton of use, but it’s still very early in his career.

Wilson believes he has everything necessary to be successful.

“Being like I am, I’m one of the people that, I feel like I’m the best on the field every time,” Wilson said. “I saw Jaxon for the time I was like, ‘OK.’ Jaxon, I mean he’s everything and then some, for sure.”

We’ll see how effective Smith-Njigba is in Ohio State’s offense on Thursday night. The Buckeyes travel to Minnesota to open the season.
