If you’re a Michigan State fan, it’s hard not to get excited about Kenneth Walker III.
Even if you’re arguably the most famous athlete in school history.
Spartan and NBA legend Magic Johnson took to Twitter Monday afternoon to celebrate Walker III’s nomination as the B1G Offensive Player of the Week after his breakout showing against Northwestern in Week 1.
I just want to congratulate MSU running back Kenneth Walker III! After rushing for 264 yards he was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week! @Kenneth_Walker9

Walker III put his name on the college football map with his performance against Northwestern, rushing for 264 yards on 23 carries and finding the end zone 4 times. Michigan State’s run game was among the worst in the B1G last season, and the Wake Forest transfer is shaping up to be a big part of Mel Tucker’s plans to change that.
Michigan State will square off with Youngstown State on Sept. 11 in Week 2. Kickoff is at noon ET on the B1G Network.
