Minnesota running back Mo Ibrahim suffered a season-ending injury in the Gophers’ season-opener vs. Ohio State, but not before he crossed a major career milestone.

Ibrahim rushed for 163 yards vs. the Buckeyes, nudging his career total just over 3,000 yards with the Golden Gophers.

According to Minnesota, he’s just the eighth running back in program history to clear that milestone:

He now sits at 3,003 career yards.

Ibrahim trails notable names such as Darrell Thompson, Marion Barber Jr., Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney. Thompson is Minnesota’s all-time leading rusher with 4,518 yards.

If Ibrahim had been able to stay healthy and continue his pace from a year ago, he may have been able to challenge for the Gophers’ all-time rushing title. Last season, Ibrahim rushed for 1,076 yards in just 7 games.

It’s unclear what Ibrahim’s future plans are, but he’s likely to be eligible to return to Minnesota next season if that’s the path he chooses. He could also opt to begin his professional career and enter the 2022 NFL Draft.

Minnesota plays Miami (Ohio) in Week 2.
