When 5-star quarterback Quinn Ewers re-classified into the class of 2021, it created an opening for the Buckeyes in 2022.
Ohio State now needs a quarterback in the class of 2022, and coach Ryan Day is apparently considering a pursuit of Penn State QB commitment Drew Allar.
According to The Athletic, Ohio State quarterback coach Corey Dennis went to watch Allar play a high school game last weekend. Allar was exceptional, throwing for 391 yards and 4 touchdowns.
It’s unclear how serious the Buckeyes are at this stage, but it could get interesting if they decide to get involved. Allar attends Medina High School in Media, Ohio.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Allar is the No. 92 overall player and the No. 7 quarterback in the class of 2022. He’s been committed to Penn State since March.
Since his commitment to the Nittany Lions, Allar has risen up the recruiting rankings. He drew comparisons to Buffalo Bills quarterback — and MVP candidate — Josh Allen at the Elite 11 finals this summer.
