CJ Stroud completed 5 passes in the second half of Ohio State’s Week 1 win over Minnesota. Four of them were touchdown passes. He threw for almost 300 yards on the day.

But if you ask his coach about his performance, “it was what it was.”

That’s one way to put it.

On his weekly radio show, Ryan Day discusses Stroud’s opening act as starting QB where he went 13-for-22 passing for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns as Ohio State beat Minnesota 45-31. Day said Stroud’s second half, where he went 5-for-8 for 236 yards and 4 touchdowns, was “very encouraging.”

Stroud served as Justin Fields’ backup last season and is taking over the starting role after Fields was drafted by the Chicago Bears. He’ll try to follow up his Week 1 performance when the Buckeyes take on Oregon on Sept. 11 at noon ET on FOX.
