SEC quarterback reportedly set to miss time with oblique injury

Georgia quarterback J.T. Daniels will reportedly not start for the Bulldogs this week due to an oblique injury.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, who will be on the call for this weekend’s Georgia game, confirmed the injury during an appearance with Paul Finebaum on Friday.

The Bulldogs play UAB in Week 2, so it’s likely they can manage to win without their starting quarterback. However, it’s unclear how long Daniels will be limited for — and that could impact Georgia’s SEC schedule.

UGA’s SEC slate begins in Week 3 as the Bulldogs host South Carolina. Road games against Auburn and Florida are looming in October.

Daniels is coming off a major victory over Clemson in Week 1. He completed 22/30 passes for 135 yards in UGA’s 10-3 win over the Tigers.

As a result, Georgia has the inside track to a College Football Playoff berth — but keeping an undefeated record could prove to be difficult if Daniels isn’t 100 percent for conference play.

Kickoff against UAB is at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
